Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF)

Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) is an antimicrobial liquid that is used on cavities to slow or stop the progression of tooth decay.  It can also be used to treat sensitive teeth.

SDF has been shown in research to stop the growth of cavities in up to 80% of lesions and is a very conservative treatment.  This is a great product to apply to children’s teeth when cooperation may make it difficult to place a filling.  SDF is also effective in areas that may be hard to reach with a tooth brush or other hygiene aids – for example on root surfaces or around crown margins.  SDF liquid is applied easily and comfortably, without anesthetic.
